Principal Architect, Digital Payments Technology

Overview

The Digital Wallet Ecosystem (DWE) program is part of Mastercard Markets and Localization team, responsible for driving the identification of new opportunities across different markets and building bespoke solutions and integrating with the wider Mastercard products and services.

The DWE program aspires to be the platform of choice for economies moving into the Digital first world of payments. We are building a solution and an ecosystem to enable the Mastercard multi-rail capabilities into these markets, building a Digital Payment Hub that integrates with Mastercard and Industry Payment processing and management solutions - both in the online and offline world.

Our positioning puts us right in the middle of 3 key dimensions
- Integrating with a varied set of global and regional Payments solutions,
- Ensuring Security as we deliver services in both an API-first approach and over mobile platforms, and
- Building an unique customer experience coupled with a set of compelling user journeys, meeting the ever growing and varied Digital financial needs of consumers.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative and highly skilled architect with proven experience in conceptualizing and architecting FinTech solutions (preferably in the Payments domain) while leveraging Mastercard’s technological capabilities to solve partner business problems, create new propositions, influencing and communicating far reaching architectural and strategic technology decisions.

As a Principal Architect at Mastercard, you will be the Technology driving force within the program and will be responsible expected to perform the following general duties:

- Work with business/product owners to architect and deliver on new services to introduce new capabilities and user journeys
- Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies
- Take a business-value driven approach to all technology decisions while driving adoption of new technologies and capabilities within the program
- Lead by example with hands-on approaches to demonstrate engineering excellence

This position maps to a Director-level career band within Mastercard (without People management responsibilities)

All About You

Education

Bachelor or Master's degree in the area of Computer Science or equivalent

Expertise

Business Domain - Payments
- Has experience working in the Payments domain
- Has experience in customer onboarding, issuance of Debit, Prepaid and Credit cards with different card types of magnetic stripe, EMV, contactless, virtual devices
- Has experience in supporting financial transactions of schemes of Mastercard, Visa & third-party switches via different channels like POS/QR, ATM & Ecommerce
- Has experience in 4 party payment settlement and dispute management model
- Has experience designing and implementing PCI-DSS compliant solutions
- Has expertise in the Payment domain standards - ISO 8583, ISO 20022, PSD2, OpenBanking API
- Has expertise in designing solutions across Card processing, ACH and real-time payments processing models

Architecture and Solutioning
- Has experience leading the solutioning and architecture of enterprise solutions
- Has skills to design and implement domain-driven architecture principles and implement API-first solutions
- Understands encryption and digital signature standards and patterns (e.g. symmetric/secret-key - AES, public key, and hashing - SHA-2 and SHA-3) and recommend software or hardware (HSM) implementation solutions
- Has experience designing and implementing solutions focusing on the non-functional concerns - Performance, Scalability, Availability, Extensibility, Supportability, Usability

Technology & Engineering Practices
- Has ability to write secure code in one or more languages/frameworks (e.g. Java, Angular, Spring Boot etc) and familiar with secure coding and vulnerabilities
