Position : Chief Representative Officer - India Office
Reporting to : Head of WB APAC and matrix reporting to Country Manager of India
Location : Mumbai, India
**Key Responsibilities**
**Representative Office Management and Compliance**
- Overall management of people, premises and communications
- Responsible for the representative office’s compliance with all local regulations
- Ultimate responsibility for the safety of the bank, ensuring that the representative office operates within all the risk limits and local/global regulatory requirements
- Responsible to identify possible risks impacting representative office operations (including non-financial risks), assess, report and mitigate risks within the agreed time period
- Lead, motivate and train staff to manage the representative office in compliance with Indian laws and regulations that also conforms to global standards and is cost efficient and effective
- Be actively involved in all matters and issues related to local reporting and representative office compliance
- Maintain and improve representative office relationship with all regulatory and other external bodies essential for ING’s profile in India
**Operations**
- Identify and collect information about possible market opportunities, country outlook, etc. and share the same with ING in line with the regulatory parameters of Indian representative office, including those as imposed by the authorities e.g., Reserve Bank of India (“RBI”)
- Liaise, meet and have general discussions with customers of ING
- Receive trade inquiries from prospective customers and forward the same to ING
- Identify and cooperate with stakeholders, understand their needs/issues/concerns and communicate the same to the parent company
- Provide generic and high-level information about ING and its products to prospective customers in India
- Conduct auxiliary research, explore and understand the business and investment climate and give advice and recommendations to ING
- Meet with regulators either for sharing global developments around ING or for gathering more information around macro-economic indicators in India
- Help establish the representative office to act as a communication channel between the parent company and Indian corporates
- Join or be involved in relevant industry associations/chambers of commerce to foster networking and achieve market awareness
- Promote innovation and sustainability
- Assistance in collection of documents w.r.t. KYC and credit appraisals of the borrower(s) of ING group
**Leadership and People**
- Lead by example. Effective leadership, management, execution and influencing skills
- Represent the organization in a variety of industry and professional forums in order to promote the company brand and development of high-level contacts in business community as well as the government bodies
- Develop strong professional partnerships working across lines of business, leveraging internal resources and navigating the firm to deliver the desired outcomes
- Responsible for employee engagement and organizational health
- Promote staff and corporate social responsibilities activities
- Ensure the right human resources for the representative office in terms of number, capabilities and diversity
- Attract, develop and retain talent
**We are looking for (key competencies and qualifications)**
- Minimum 15 years wholesale banking experience and preferably about 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Deep deal origination and closure experience
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive & competitiveness to achieve sustainable results and a passion for success
- Strong strategic business planning and execution skills with good business acumen, and sound commercial and (credit and non-financial) risk judgments
- Broad knowledge of wholesale banking products and services (lending, project finance, structured export finance, acquisition/bridge finance, debt capital markets, financial markets, hedging, corporate or project advisory, etc.), as well as banking regulations and policies
- Direct experience in markets related businesses and distribution/syndication/Debt Capital Markets either on-shore or off-shore markets.
- Broad understanding of relevant industry sectors (e.g., Energy/Renewables, Telecom Media Technology & Healthcare, Infrastructure, Metal & Mining, Consumer, Food & Agri, Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions)
- Have access to and/or prior relationship with key market players (e.g., local conglomerates, local and international corporates, state-owned enterprises, development financial institutions, export credit agencies, peers/competitors, etc.) and well familiar with the market dynamics in India
- Experience in dealing with senior management within the organization, with peers and clients as well as regulators
- Strong capability to develop and maintain networks
- Having worked in international banks is a plus
