School Principal - Job description

Qualifications:
Administrative certification

Master’s Degree

Minimally, 5 years teaching experience at the elementary level

Minimally, 5 years experience as Head Mistress or Principal preferably in ICSE school

Experience in administration/supervision or related areas

Duties and Responsibilities Administration

Serve as the academic leader of the early childhood/primary programs directly responsible to the school director for the general organization and efficient administration of such programs.

Assume the responsibility for creating and maintaining a school culture indicative of a professional learning community.

Remain informed and supportive of all school policies and regulations.

Work collaboratively with the director and the administrative team, keeping everyone informed of activities and special events at the primary school level.

Participate in budget planning with the director by submitting requests for instructional needs after careful analysis and collaborative discussions with teachers.

Develop a public relations program in order to further the community’s

understanding and support of the educational program.

Curriculum/Assessment

Assist in the development and implementation of the PYP curriculum.

Ensure that instructional materials are adequate and support the PYP curriculum.

Account for student achievement and progress through various forms and practices, including the administration of the ISA tests, student led conferences and production of report cards.

Prepare class schedules.



Keep parents informed of their child’s learning or behavioral problems, off

ering sound recommendations where possible.

Plan and participate in parent conferences in matters of extreme importance, such as identification of learning difficulties, serious behavioral problems, or recommendation for professional services.

Teacher Supervision

Assume responsibility for the implementation of the evaluation and promotion of professional growth of assigned teachers and teacher assistants (through conferences, setting objectives, classroom observations, and written reports).

Ensure that all teachers have established means by which to communicate with parents on a regular basis.
