**Principal Data Platform Architect**

**What you will do**
- Implement and handle cloud data platform and technical road maps of the platform that align with the Amgen Data strategy on AWS cloud
- Be responsible for delivery and support of Enterprise Data Fabric platform on AWS and Databricks architecture
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support of enterprise shared components using technologies like Python / Angular / AWS and Spark
- Overall management of the Enterprise Data Fabric on AWS environment to ensure that the service delivery is cost effective and business SLAs around uptime, performance and capacity are met
- Help define guidelines, standards, strategies, security policies and change management policies to support the Enterprise Data Fabric platform.
- Research and evaluate technical solutions in Data Management Technologies, Data Discovery, Data integration and analytical tools with a focus on enterprise deployment capabilities like security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, etc.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends and developments in cloud data related tools, analytics software, and related and emerging technologies AI/ML
- User interaction and requirements gathering from internal customers and consulting them on standard processes to effectively use cloud data platforms as a data and computing resource; providing management best recommendations and follow on solutions to support programming maintenance and growth to achieve strategic and operational goals
- Work as part of team in a SAFe Agile/Scrum model

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Doctorate degree and 2 years of relevant experience OR
- Master’s degree in computer science or engineering field and 8 to 10 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering field and 10 to 14 years of relevant experience OR
- Diploma and 14 to 18 years of computer science and engineering preferred, other Engineering field experience will be considered
- 5+ years of experience working on Cloud Data platforms and Application development.
- 5+ years of experience in leading enterprise scale data and analytics solutions development.
- Hands on development experience with Databricks
- Showed strength in using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data engineering solutions. Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and cost optimization strategies. Experience using Databricks, Snowflake, Python, PowerBI, Tableau.
- Expertise in Python, Java/J2EE - preferably full stack development experience
- Proven ability to lead and develop hard-working data platform engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to address sophisticated data challenges.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively present information for all levels, and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working with platform and shared service models
- Experience working with Apache Spark, Apache Airflow
- Experience working with agile development methodologies such as Scaled Agile.
- Experienced with software engineering best-practices, including but not limited to version control (Git, Subversion, etc.), CI/CD (Jenkins, Maven etc.), automated unit testing, and Dev Ops.
- SAFe for Teams certification (preferred)
