**About the Role**:
As an ICU Staff Nurse specializing in Geriatric Care at our hospital, you will play a critical role in providing intensive care and monitoring to elderly patients with complex medical conditions. Working under the supervision of senior nursing staff and in collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams, you will deliver specialized nursing care in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) tailored to meet the unique needs of geriatric patients. Your expertise in critical care nursing, compassionate approach, and attention to detail will ensure the highest quality of care and comfort for our elderly patients during their stay in the ICU.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor and assess elderly patients in the ICU, providing continuous surveillance of vital signs, neurological status, and other indicators of patient health.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, ensuring adherence to protocols specific to geriatric patients.
- Perform advanced nursing procedures such as mechanical ventilation management, hemodynamic monitoring, and cardiac monitoring as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for geriatric ICU patients, ensuring alignment with patient and family preferences.
- Provide emotional support and education to elderly patients and their families regarding ICU procedures, treatments, and recovery expectations.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and comprehensively in electronic medical records, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies.
- Participate in patient rounds, case conferences, and care coordination meetings to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of care.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a sterile and safe environment within the ICU for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations within the ICU, demonstrating proficiency in critical care nursing interventions and procedures.
- Engage in continuous professional development through education, training, and participation in quality improvement initiatives specific to geriatric ICU care.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid nursing license in [State/Country] with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience as a registered nurse in an ICU setting, with specific experience in geriatric ICU care highly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of critical care nursing practices, procedures, and protocols relevant to geriatric patients.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Empathetic and compassionate demeanor towards elderly patients and their families during critical illness.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or Gerontological Nursing (RN-BC) preferred.
