Our Advanced Analytical and Data Sciences organization is growing to support the entire Lilly enterprise, from Discovery to Development to Manufacturing and Commercialization of our medicines. To solve the complex problems of a global business and the ever-evolving data and analytics landscape, the organization generally requires advanced degrees in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, operations research and computer science. We are playing a leading role in transforming the way the company discovers and develops new treatments, identifies personalized treatment regimens, drives efficiency in our operations and optimizes our commercialization of new products. We are doing this with an emphasis in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence, natural language processing and other approaches to unstructured data, advanced mathematical and predictive modeling, visual analytics and more. **Key responsibilities include**:

- Perform cutting edge research in natural language processing (NLP) technologies.
- Stay current with new technology trends in NLP and NLG.
- Define and own a roadmap of large-scale projects from inception to completion.
- Participate in strategic decision-making across the project.
- Mentor and lead other teammates and interns.
- Publish your work to top conferences.
- Evaluate and benchmark the performance of different NLP systems and provide guidance on metrics and best practices.
- Partner with engineering teams to deliver your technology.
- Work with teams and partners across the company providing data science support for multiple projects.

**Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities**:

- Strong technical knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and state-of-the-art deep learning for text and graphs literature.
- Proven experience with natural language processing, including textual data processing, training, and evaluating deep learning and large language models (Transformer based models, Bert, GPT, etc).
- Demonstrated ability in defining, leading, and executing challenging research projects.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, problem solving skills, programming (Python)
- Familiarity with various NLP toolkits like Langchain, LlamaIndex, Huggingface Transformers, Spacy, CoreNLP, OpenNLP etc.
- Experience using cloud services: AWS /Azure
- Proven ability to impact product with cutting edge research technology.
- Prior experience of building healthcare-related products will be a plus.

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Science, Information Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience working in NLP / Text analytics.
