A **Production Planner** in the pharmaceutical industry is responsible for planning and coordinating the production processes to ensure that manufacturing schedules are met efficiently and within the required quality standards. This role involves managing inventory, forecasting demand, and ensuring that production runs smoothly while adhering to regulatory requirements and deadlines.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Production Planning and Scheduling**:

- Develop detailed production plans based on sales forecasts, historical data, and inventory levels.
- Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate production activities, adjusting schedules as necessary to handle unforeseen issues such as raw material delays, machine breakdowns, or workforce availability.
- **Inventory Management**:

- Monitor raw material stock levels to ensure that production can proceed without interruption.
- Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering of raw materials and supplies.
- Ensure that finished goods are available in sufficient quantities for distribution and that they meet regulatory standards.
- **Demand Forecasting and Capacity Planning**:

- Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast demand for pharmaceutical products.
- Assess production capacity to determine if adjustments are needed to meet demand.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and other departments to align production goals with market needs.
- **Quality Assurance and Compliance**:

- Ensure that production processes comply with industry regulations (such as Good Manufacturing Practices - GMP) and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the quality control department to resolve any production-related quality issues.
- Maintain accurate records of production batches, including any deviations or adjustments made.
- **Collaboration and Communication**:

- Liaise with other departments such as procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and sales to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide regular updates to senior management regarding production status, delays, or issues.
- Communicate production schedules and any changes to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- **Continuous Improvement**:

- Monitor and analyze production performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize production workflows.
- Participate in root cause analysis for any production delays or disruptions and work with the team to find solutions.
- **Cost Management**:

- Work within budgetary constraints to minimize production costs while maintaining quality.
- Track production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities where possible.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Educational Qualifications**:

- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in production planning, project management, or quality control can be beneficial.
- **Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of production planning software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, SAP).
- Solid understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulations (GMP, FDA, etc.).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- **Experience**:

- Previous experience in production planning or a related field in the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
- Experience with inventory management and demand forecasting.
