Job Description - Procurement Engineer (Engineering/Manufacturing - Solids & Automation Technologies)

**Job Title**: Purchase Engineer

**Department**: Supply Chain / Procurement
**Reporting To**: Procurement Manager / Operations Manager

**Job Purpose**:
To handle procurement of engineering materials and components related to solids handling systems and automation technologies, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and quality compliance to support production and project execution.

**Key Responsibilities:1. Procurement Planning & Execution**
- Understand project BOMs and production requirements.
- Float RFQs to vendors for items gearboxes, motors, bearings, seals, Raw material like MS, SS etc.
- Evaluate vendor quotations technically and commercially and maintain records
- Generate purchase orders in ERP or manual systems.
- Follow up for order confirmation, dispatch, and delivery tracking.

**2. Vendor Management**
- Coordinate with existing suppliers for timely deliveries and quality assurance
- Assist in identifying and onboarding new vendors for regular and project-based requirements.
- Conduct basic supplier audits and price negotiations under supervision.
- Maintain supplier database and records of past orders, rates, and lead times.

**3. Cost & Inventory Coordination**
- Track and report price fluctuations in critical components.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing.
- Align purchases with inventory levels and minimum stock requirements.
- Help avoid overstocking or shortages through accurate planning.

**4. Technical Documentation & Compliance**
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications while sourcing custom-built components.
- Maintain records of all purchase transactions, inspection reports, and vendor communications.
- Assist in documentation for internal audits and project handovers.

**5. Cross-Functional Coordination**
- Coordinate with Design, Production, and Stores for material specifications, urgent requirements, and GRN.
- Work with QC to resolve issues in received materials (if any).
- Provide material status updates to project planning or execution teams.

**Key Skills & Competencies**:

- Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components, fabrication items, and automation products.
- Understanding of procurement processes and commercial terms.
- Basic technical reading of engineering drawings/specifications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Communication and negotiation skills.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Education**: Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- **Experience**: 2-4 years in a purchase/procurement role in engineering, fabrication, or automation industry.

**Working Conditions**:

- Full-time, office and shop-floor based.
- Coordination with vendors and in-house departments.
- Occasional visits to supplier sites for inspection or follow-up.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
