Introduction

The Solution Architect role will be Responsible to lead the Solution Architecture including roadmap for one or more Data Products for Barclays Corporate Data Services (CDS) to meet business requirements. The role must drive and operate the Medium-Term Planning (MTP) for one or more CDS Data Products leveraging approved architectures, as well as standard requirements and estimation templates for the Product. The role must operate in line with Barclays Group Policies and Standards, Strategies & Architectures, and Engineering Domains.

What will you be doing?

Product Architecture Leadership & Management
- Develop & maintain architecture strategy, architecture roadmap for one or more CDS Products.
- Ensure strong collaboration, cohesiveness, and resilience with global Product Architecture counterparts.
- Operate an outcome focussed Delivery Plan. Effectively manage Architecture RAIDS. Report regularly to leadership.

Product Architecture
- Define Strategic Product Roadmaps & Architectures. Provide views to Executive Leadership on short notice.
- Ensure a structured and methodical architecture approach is followed using industry frameworks, methodologies, and best practices including TOGAF.
- Ensure the architecture artifacts are of the highest quality, executive friendly, and easily consumable by a wide audience.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation for the Product including migration to cloud.
- Define and execute strategic change across one or more CDS Platforms and Products.
- Define Architecture Patterns & Estimation Templates for CDS Products.
- Define document and maintain Landscape Architecture including Environments.
- Develop Business Cases for Transformation & Platform Migration.
- Contribute to Architecture & Design for Corporate Data Services as a whole, and other Data Products.
- Obtain Pattern and Solution Design signoffs from relevant Architecture Forums in a timely manner.
- Proactively maintain list of Solution Building Blocks (SBBs) for Products with timely funded remediation plans for technology end of life.
- Lead, contribute, or participate in key architecture governance forums.
- Oversee and provide assurance to product releases from an architecture viewpoint including weekend or out of the hours coverage, if necessary, as covered by organisational policies.

Programme Architecture
- Ensure Key Programmes are supported with architecture visions, estimations, and architecture resourcing.
- Ensure strong understanding of requirements, end to end impact for CDS.
- Ensure key RAIDs for architecture are understood, logged, tracked, and closed.

Medium Term Planning (MTP)
- Ensure a yearly master plan is established and proactively operated to secure demand and funding for Product.
- MTP Core - Establish priorities and requirements using CDS Architecture Roadmap. Secure funding.
- MTP Flex - Gather Requirements from Transaction Cycles and interlock funding with Products and Programmes.

What we’re looking for:

- A graduate, preferably in information technology, engineering, science, mathematics, data science or related areas.
- At least 12 years of experience in Information Technology out of which 2 years is as a Solution/Enterprise Architect. Note: Prior solution architecture experience is mandatory including at least 1-2 production solutions defined by self.
- Strong understanding of architecture approaches, frameworks, and methodologies including TOGAF.
- Well versed with Data Architecture, Data Platforms, Data Management, Cloud including best practices.
- At least 1-year hands-on experience in Data Integration, Operational Data Store, Data Lake, Data Warehousing.
- Familiarity with different data modelling approaches, and data architecture best practices.

Skills that will help you in the role:

- Preferably TOGAF certified.
- At least 1 year exposure to Banking & Financial Service Domain in a large global matrix organisation.
