Cloud Dba Architect

**Responsibilities**:

- Design and implement scalable, highly available, and secure cloud-based database architectures.
- Lead database migration projects from on-premises environments to cloud-based platforms.
- Optimize database performance and ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to integrate database solutions into broader infrastructure architecture.
- Develop automated solutions for database deployment, monitoring, and management.
- Advise on best practices for data storage, governance, and compliance in cloud environments.

**Technical Skills**:

- Overall experience of 10+ years with 3+ years of Infrastucture Architecture experience
- Cloud Platforms:

- Advanced experience in AWS (RDS, Aurora), and Google Cloud (Cloud SQL, Bigtable, Firestore)
- Database Technologies:

- Expertise in both SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
- Experience with in-memory databases like Redis or Memcached.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing solutions (Databricks, Snowflake).
- Database Migration:

- Proficient in database migration strategies, including rehosting, re-platforming, and refactoring.
- Experience with AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service, and other cloud migration tools.
- Database Security & Compliance:

- Deep understanding of encryption at rest and in transit, data masking, and role-based access controls.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS as it relates to data storage and handling.
- Performance Optimization:

- Expertise in database indexing, query optimization, partitioning, and sharding techniques.
- Advanced experience with cloud-native tools for database monitoring (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Stackdriver), performance tuning, and scaling.
- Disaster Recovery & High Availability:

- Strong experience with replication (active-active, active-passive), backup strategies, and failover mechanisms in cloud environments.
- Experience in designing databases for high availability using techniques like multi-AZ (AWS) or zone-redundancy (Azure).
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC):

- Hands-on experience with managing databases using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
- Data Governance & Lifecycle Management:

- Knowledge of data archiving, retention policies, and tiered storage strategies.
- Automation & DevOps:

- Proficient in automating database deployment, backups, and recovery with tools like Ansible, Chef, and custom scripts (Bash, Python).
- Experience integrating databases into CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment.
- Big Data Technologies (Desirable):

- Experience with big data solutions and analytics platforms like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and cloud-native services (e.g., AWS EMR, Azure HDInsight).
- Scripting and Automation:

- Advanced scripting skills in SQL, Python, or PowerShell for automating database tasks, monitoring, and reporting.
- Database Monitoring & Logging:

- Proficiency with tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, and Prometheus for database performance monitoring and logging.
