**Job Title**: Sheet Metal Fitter - Welding Process
**Department**: Production / Fabrication
**Reporting To**: Production Supervisor / Welding Engineer

**Job Purpose**:
To perform accurate fitting and preparation of sheet metal components as per drawings and welding requirements, ensuring alignment, dimensional accuracy, and weld joint quality prior to welding operations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Component Fitting & Preparation**:
Read and interpret fabrication drawings to mark, align, and position sheet metal parts for welding.
- **Fixture & Jig Usage**:
Use appropriate fixtures, clamps, and jigs to hold parts during fitting and tacking.
- **Weld Joint Preparation**:
Prepare edges (grinding, beveling, cleaning) for MIG/TIG welding, spot welding, or other required techniques.
- **Tack Welding**:
Perform basic tack welds to hold components before the final welding process, ensuring dimensional accuracy.
- **Check Fit-Up Tolerance**:
Verify gap, alignment, and squareness using measuring instruments (vernier, scale, angle gauge, etc.).
- **Cooperation with Welders & QC**:
Coordinate with welders and quality inspectors to meet production and quality standards.
- **Material Handling & Safety**:
Ensure safe handling of sheet metal components, usage of PPEs, and maintain cleanliness in the workstation.
- **Process Improvement Support**:
Share observations for continuous improvements in welding and fitting practices.

**Key Skills & Competencies**:

- Ability to read fabrication and welding drawings
- Hands-on experience in **sheet metal fitting and basic welding techniques**:

- Knowledge of welding symbols and standard practices
- Familiarity with gauges, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment
- Good understanding of safety practices in fabrication units
- Team player and physically fit to handle heavy parts

**Qualification & Experience**:

- ITI / Diploma in Fitting, Fabrication, or related trade
- 2-5 years experience in **sheet metal fabrication**, especially in a welding environment (preferably MIG/TIG welding)

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹26,306.77 per month
