- Collaboration: Duty doctors often work closely with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure that all aspects of a patient's treatment are addressed.
- Patient Communication: They communicate with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans, providing support and answering questions.
- Supervision and Teaching: In teaching hospitals, duty doctors may supervise medical students or interns, guiding them in clinical skills and decision-making processes.
- Shift Management: They manage their time effectively to handle multiple patients and prioritize care based on urgency and severity of cases.
