**Job Purpose (Job Summary)**:
To achieve a goal of 99.99% service availability by ensuring standard initial build, ongoing maintenance, procedures and monitoring of the Database Administration and respective RDBMS technologies is undertaken effectively. Additionally, to ensure first class support and problem resolution is given in achieving this goal.

**Key Responsibilities / Duties**:

- Engage with the Engineering team and have detailed operationalizing plan for new and ongoing projects.
- Participate in the meetings pertaining to new build activities and understand the scope of Operations team and there by lay the path for the team.
- Active participation in technical product evaluations
- Provide and maintain internal project-related documentation to effectively record, track and review project progress
- Coach and mentor, the Operations team such that it is ready to take on new services.
- Ensure that the Operations portfolio remains current. Highlight areas requiring refresh albeit from a database perspective.
- Ensure operational standards are adhered to. This includes actively looking to continuously improve working practices to ensure the team works as efficiently as possible.
- Responsible for inculcating the culture of compliance to operational standards, processes, and procedures. This includes actively looking to continuously improve working practices to ensure the team works as efficiently as possible.
- Take ownership of critical issues i.e., major incidents, complex changes, DR/BR tests etc., and draft an action plan for successful resolution.
- Identify improvements that can be made to the infrastructure. Assist with streamlining, simplification and in general improvement of systems’ efficiencies through the effective use of technology, lateral thinking, and creativity.
- Regularly review the team risk profile and advise proper measures to mitigate those risks.

- Collaborate with other Technology teams to deliver world class services from Technology Infrastructure standpoint.
- Help drive the vulnerabilities management agenda in alignment with security framework.

**Work Experience / Knowledge**:

- 6 -8 years in Oracle/MSSQL Database Administration role.
- Possess strong working & troubleshooting experience
- Strong Knowledge on the MSSQL Security Management and Administration.
- Strong Knowledge on Backups and Recovery Technologies in SQL including SQL Native Backups and procedures.
- Should be well versed in the tools like SSMS, SSRS and implementation. Should have good knowledge of Supporting 24x7 production databases especially under Financial Domain.
- Excellent skills of Installing and maintaining the MSSQL software is required.
- Have good knowledge of MSSQL Business Recovery solutions like Always On, SQL Server Replication processes.
- Strong Knowledge on Database Upgrades and migrations (SQL 2012,2014,2016,2017,2019) and cross platform migration expected.
- Must possess strong Database performance troubleshooting experience.
- Good to have working experience on managing windows MSSQL servers.
- Should have good knowledge of working on SQL Server Always on Clusters.
- Good to have working experience on SolarWinds. Power BI Knowledge is an added advantage.
- Understanding different Storage technologies will be an advantage.
- PowerShell Scripting will be an added advantage.
- AWS Cloud, EC2,S3,RDS,Azure knowledge is also acceptable.

**Formal Education**:(minimum requirement to perform job duties)

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.

**Working Conditions**:

- Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, and temperatures.
- The ability to lift, carry or otherwise move objects of up to 30 pounds is also necessary.
- Need to work in 24x5 rotational shifts including weekend support, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment.
- Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on call support by pager and/or cell phone.
