**Role description**:
We are seeking an experienced **Database SME (Oracle & SQL)** to design, manage, and optimize enterprise-level database systems within the **Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) domain**. The role involves ensuring high availability, security, performance, and compliance of mission-critical databases while supporting both on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

**Database Administration**
- Install, configure, and manage **Oracle (12c, 19c)** and **SQL Server (2016, 2019, 2022)** in high-availability setups.
- Oversee database architecture, upgrades, and migrations.

**Performance Optimization**
- Conduct query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and in-memory processing to enhance database performance.

**Security & Compliance**
- Implement RBAC, encryption, auditing, and data masking.
- Ensure compliance with **PCI DSS, GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2**, and other BFSI security regulations.

**Backup & Recovery**
- Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies using **RMAN, Data Pump, SQL Server Always On**, and enterprise backup tools.

**High Availability & Disaster Recovery**
- Design and implement **Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On, and Failover Clustering** solutions.

**Automation & Scripting**
- Automate database administration tasks using **PL/SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, and Ansible**.

**Incident & Problem Management**
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, connectivity failures, and outages in production environments.

**Cloud & Hybrid Database Management**
- Support and optimize databases hosted on **AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Oracle Cloud**, and hybrid cloud platforms.

**Monitoring & Reporting**
- Use monitoring tools like **Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), SQL Server Profiler, Prometheus, and Splunk** for proactive analysis and reporting.

**Collaboration & Documentation**
- Work with cross-functional teams and maintain detailed documentation of database architectures, policies, and recovery procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- **7+ years** of hands-on experience in Oracle and SQL Server administration.
- Proven expertise in **high availability architectures** (RAC, Data Guard, Always On, Failover Clustering, Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping).
- Strong background in **backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning**.
- Experience in database **security, encryption, and compliance standards**.
- Proficiency in **PL/SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible** for automation.
- Experience with **cloud-based database solutions** (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Oracle Cloud).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities in production environments.
- Experience with **database migrations, upgrades, and patching**.

Preferred Certifications
- **Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) - Database Administration**
- **Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate**
- **AWS Certified Database - Specialty**
- **Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)** - preferred for containerized database environments
