**Legal Counsel at ZeroNorth**

We are seeking a highly experienced and autonomous Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel (depending on seniority) to be our legal team member in India. Based in Mumbai, this is a unique opportunity to become the legal function on the ground.

You will be a self-starter and a trusted legal advisor, instrumental in supporting our two Indian subsidiaries and a newly established procurement function.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Act as the primary legal business partner for all India-based operations, providing strategic and commercial legal advice.
- Manage all corporate filings, registrations, and other statutory compliance requirements for two private limited companies incorporated in India working closely with our local external legal advisors and corporate secretarial service providers.
- Provide comprehensive legal support to our procurement team, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, vendor agreements, service contracts, and procurement frameworks.
- Assist with various compliance tasks, including sanctions screenings and foreign trade controls, regulatory liaison with authorities and legal research on Indian law developments in liaison with ZeroNorth Compliance Counsel.
- Assist with broader legal and compliance efforts across our international operations.

**Your profile**:

- LLB from a recognized Indian university (LLM preferred)
- Active enrolment with the Bar Council of India.
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification, ideally with a blend of reputable law firm practice and in-house legal work within an international company.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Hindi.
- Demonstrated experience in corporate law, particularly with corporate filings and registrations in India. Experience with Singapore and Japan is a plus but not required.
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of Indian employment law and/or legal compliance, including foreign trade controls, is a plus, but not a prerequisite
