Job Summary
The IPDRG Medical Coder plays a critical role in the healthcare documentation and reimbursement process by accurately assigning codes to inpatient medical records. This position ensures compliance with industry standards, supports clinical teams with thorough documentation analysis, and contributes to streamlined billing and data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Assign Inpatient Diagnosis-Related Group (IPDRG) codes based on established coding guidelines, including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and MS-DRG classifications.
Review and interpret clinical documentation to ensure appropriate code assignment and data integrity.
Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and other departments to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
Achieve and maintain established productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
Stay current on changes to coding regulations, DRG methodology, and payer requirements through continuous education and training.
Contribute to audit preparation and participate in internal quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Certification: Valid certification required — CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder).
Experience: Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience in IPDRG coding.
Education: Background in healthcare, medical coding, health information management, or a related field is preferred.
Key Skills & Competencies
Solid understanding of IPDRG coding systems, Medicare Severity Diagnosis-Related Groups (MS-DRGs), and relevant clinical terminology.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in coding and documentation review.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clinical teams and support coding clarity.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹34,107.56 per month
