Recording and documentation
- Checks the details of the instruments received from the ward and signs the ward record register
- Enters the details of all the instruments i.e. name of the department, quantity etc received from the ward into the CSSD record register
- Basic ability to read and write in the required language
- Attention for details

Carries out procedures in the washing room
- Opens all the instruments received from the ward
- Puts them into the wire tray and washes them under water
- Keeps those instruments into ultrasonic cleaners for 10 minutes to clean residual stains
- Again washes instruments under water and dries them with air gun
- Ensures that the instruments are completely dry and keeps them in YORCO oven for the complete drying of the instruments
- Transfers the instruments to the processing area
- Maintains separate table for OT instruments which come directly from the elevator
- According to the checklist checks the instruments name and quantity.
- Opens up all the instruments and keeps them in double door washer disinfection machine which are taken out in the processing
- Knowledge about the instruments
- Knowledge about various equipments used in CSSD

Ensures that proper temperature and pressure is maintained according to the zones i.e. negative pressure in the sterile zone
- Knowledge about the temperature and pressure changes required in CSSD

Carries out procedure in the processing area
- Receives clean and dried items from the window
- Prepares separate checklist according to ward, OT, linen etc
- As per checklist prepares all the sets and wraps all the sets keeping the checklist inside by two methods i.e. flat and cross wrapping.
- Ensures that double wrapping is done for infection control
- Labels the set with content details mentioning name of the set, expiry date, name of the technician.
- Loads the trolley with all the wrapped sets and takes it for sterilization.
- Packs the heat sensitive instruments in special wrappers having plastic on one side and the other side having medical grade paper
- According to the sensitivity of the instruments selects the cycle for sterilization i.e. Steam, LTSF or Plasma
- After keeping the instruments selects the temperature and starts the machine
- Knowledge about the heat sensitive instruments
- Time management skills

Carries out procedure in the sterile area
- Takes out all the items after sterilization directly in the sterile zone with the double door facility.
- Performs physical, chemical and biological tests to ensure complete sterilization
- Knowledge about all the indicator tests
- Attention for details

Issues items as per protocol and the checklist
- Operation theatre instruments are directly sent to the OT through the elevators to TSSU
- Ability to take responsibility
- Attention for details
