Chemotherapy Nurse

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Administer chemotherapy medications according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after chemotherapy treatments to assess for adverse reactions or side effects.
- Educate patients and their families on the chemotherapy process, potential side effects, and how to manage them.
- Coordinate with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Assess and document patient responses to chemotherapy, noting any complications or changes in condition.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients dealing with the emotional and physical challenges of cancer treatment.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in compliance with infection control and safety standards.
- Ensure accurate documentation of treatments, patient interactions, and follow-up care.
- Administer supportive care treatments, such as pain management, hydration, and blood transfusions, as needed.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in chemotherapy treatments, medications, and protocols.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards of nursing practice.

**Qualifications**:

- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or Chemotherapy Certification preferred.
- Experience in oncology nursing or chemotherapy administration is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, side effects, and safe handling protocols.
- Strong communication, assessment, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.
- Exposure to chemotherapy drugs and other hazardous materials may occur.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, and assisting patients.
