Mechanical Architect

**Job Description Summary**: As a Mechanical Architect will lead the design of Technology roadmap for Global Diagnostic Cardiology Mechanical Engineering group and develop an implementation plan, in line with best in class technologies. You will provide technical leadership to all the Mechanical Engineers across DCAR Diagnostic Cardiology business unit in driving Innovation, Productivity, Tools and Design Process, Design Reviews, and most importantly have clear thinking ability to design best in class cost effective solutions to address customer needs.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

In this role you will
- Work in a cross-functional, global team that designs, develops, manufactures, and services complex state-of-the-art medical devices for Diagnostic Cardiology business.
- Complete detailed mechanical designs, from concept through implementation/release, inclusive of detailed analysis and testing. Specific tasks include 3D modeling, finite element simulation, design documentation, prototyping, reliability growth and demonstration, design verification, and integration of hardware at all levels: from mechanical components to electronics packaging to entire system design.
- Lead global Technical Design Reviews, craft product feature roadmaps, as well as mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Develop component-level, assembly-level, and system-level mechanical designs for new or existing products according to established project timelines, product requirements, cost targets, and reliability goals.
- Create mechanical component designs and select the proper and cost-effective manufacturing technique; casting, thermoforming, injection molding, welding, machining, sheet-metal fab, additive-manufacturing, adhesives.
- Deliver product designs with high rigor in areas of suspended mass, bolted joint design, manufacturability and serviceability.
- Prepare and present detailed design review packages demonstrating key performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability goals are met and align with internal and external customer expectations
- Perform complex calculations, analyses, and testing to verify requirements and assumptions.
- Work independently and possess a high level of functional expertise necessary to influence and execute technical and project delivery.
- The employee will also lead global Technical Design Reviews, craft product feature roadmaps
- Mentor and lead junior engineers; review design outputs for both accuracy and correctness including proper use of GD&T
- Direct project workloads for drafters, designers, and junior engineers, as appropriate.
- Work from product specifications and requirements to develop component, assembly, and system geometry, specify materials, and establish acceptable performance standards
- Use CAD software to produce design artifacts; 3D models, 2D detailed drawings, thermal/structural analyses, tolerance stack ups.
- Direct the construction and testing of prototype and pilot products; conduct testing and analyze results.
- Generate high-quality, accurate Bills of Materials and component/assembly specifications.
- Assist Technical Service in troubleshooting field installations and service calls, when requested.

**Education Qualification**
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 12+ years of experience in leading the design & development of system/subsystem having plastic molded, casting and sheet-metal components

**Technical Skills (Must have)**
- Strong knowledge of structural design, CAD (Creating 3D models and manufacturing drawings in CREO)
- Knowledge in FEA Finite Element Analysis and simulation will be preferred
- Strong knowledge in manufacturability considerations for Plastic, Sheetmetal, Casting Components
- Experience in conducting verification and experimental testing at components / subsystem level
- Create DFMEA design failure mode and effect analysis and identify relevant product risks
- Experience with standard NPI new product Introduction / NPD new product Development process: Ideation to Industrialization
- Experience in Product Obsolescence Management/Sustenance and Value Engineering
- Familiar with latest engineering design and methods, tools, and processes
- Hands on experience in Windchill PDM Product data management/ PLM Product lifecycle management for managing lifecycle of the components, managing ECO / ECR, creating EBOM
- Create functional requirement documentation
- Experience in Medical Device development and knowledge of IEC 60601 standards will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of Global Medical Quality and Regulatory Standards e.g. IEC International Electrotechnical Commission, FDA final Design approval, UL Ultras
