**The Role**

Within our Database Administration team at Kyndryl, you'll be a master of managing and administering the backbone of our technological infrastructure. You'll be the architect of the system, shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation to ensure the long-term success of our business operations.

Your expertise will be crucial in configuring, installing and maintaining database management systems, ensuring that our systems are always running at peak performance. You'll also be responsible for managing user access, implementing the highest standards of security to protect our valuable data from unauthorized access.

As a key player on the team, you'll implement policies and procedures to safeguard our data from external threats. You will also conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage, ensuring that our system is always scalable to meet our business needs.

You'll be a strategic partner, working closely with various teams to coordinate systematic database project plans that align with our organizational goals. Your contributions will not go unnoticed - you'll have the opportunity to propose and implement enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system, enabling us to deliver world-class services to our customers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Resolve performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
- Test patches and updates in staging environments before production deployment.
- Test and maintain backup and recovery strategies to ensure quick recovery in case of failures.
- Plan and manage data migration tasks, such as moving data between different DB2 instances, from other databases to DB2, or between different environments (test to production).
- Assess and plan for database growth, ensuring that the zLinux server and DB2 databases scale as needed.
- Monitor and manage disk space utilization and recommend upgrades or modifications.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 8+ years of experience in zLinux DBA Role.
- Install and configure DB2 on zLinux systems, ensuring the database environment is properly set up.
- Configure and maintain zLinux servers for optimal performance with DB2.
- Manage database creation, schema setup, and ensure that DB2 is correctly configured for zLinux systems.
- Perform regular database backups and restore procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitor and tune database performance, optimizing queries and indexes.
- Implement and manage user access control, roles, and privileges within DB2.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and policies specific to zLinux systems.
- Monitor system performance, including CPU, memory, disk, and I/O usage specific to DB2 on zLinux.
- Use DB2 performance tools to analyze and tune queries and database resources.
- Configure and maintain DB2 High Availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, such as DB2 HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery).
- Troubleshoot DB2 performance issues, query problems, and zLinux-specific issues that may affect DB2 performance.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Resolve database outages, performance issues, and system alerts promptly.
- Maintain thorough documentation for all DB2 configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Document troubleshooting steps and best practices for resolving common issues.
- Ensure that DB2 is configured to meet regulatory and organizational compliance requirements.
- Support auditing processes by providing necessary database logs and audit trails.
