Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding as necessary.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities or changes in condition to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and ensure patients understand proper dosages and administration techniques.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as wound care, injections, and catheterization under the supervision of senior nursing staff.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Accurately document patient information, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Assist in the preparation of patient care plans and contribute to interdisciplinary care conferences as needed.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment options, and self-care practices.
- Safety and Infection Control:
- Follow established protocols for infection control and maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
- Adhere to safety regulations and participate in ongoing training and education related to infection prevention and workplace safety.
- Identify and report potential hazards or safety concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in orientation programs and continuing education opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- Seek guidance and mentorship from experienced nursing staff to support professional growth and development.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and lifelong learning in the nursing profession.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) may be preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of patients.
