As an eCommerce senior category executive, your primary responsibility will be to monitor, analyze, and optimize product categories and play a crucial role in driving sales growth, and improving the overall customer experience within an online marketplace environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including the marketing, analytical, technical, MIS, data, design, and content teams, to drive sales growth, improve the customer experience, and maximize profitability.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Category Analysis**:Conduct an in-depth analysis of product categories, including sales performance, customer behavior, market trends, and the competitive landscape. Identify growth opportunities, recommend assortment strategies, and provide actionable insights to drive category performance.
**Performance Tracking**:Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, conversion rates, average order value, and customer satisfaction. Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
**Market Research**:Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
Conduct market research to identify emerging products, pricing strategies, and promotional opportunities. Use this information to make data-driven recommendations for category expansion and optimization.
**Assortment Planning**:Collaborate with merchandising teams to develop and execute effective assortment strategies. Utilize sales data, market insights, and customer feedback to identify gaps, recommend product additions or exclusions, and optimize the product mix within each category.
**Pricing and Promotions**:Analyze pricing strategies and promotional effectiveness to ensure competitive pricing, maximize profitability, and drive customer engagement. Provide recommendations for pricing adjustments and promotional campaigns based on data analysis and market trends.
**Inventory and Catalog Management**:Coordinate closely with the data team to ensure accurate and up-to-date product listings, pricing, and inventory availability across multiple marketplaces. Optimize product content, categorization, and search keywords to improve visibility and conversion rates.
**Marketplace Expansion**:Explore opportunities to expand the company's presence on new online marketplaces. Research marketplace requirements, onboard new accounts, and manage product integrations to maximize reach and sales potential.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**:Work closely with various teams, including marketing, supply chain, and vendor management, to coordinate and execute category initiatives. Collaborate on promotional activities, inventory planning, and vendor negotiations to optimize category performance.
**Data Analysis and Reporting**:Utilize analytical tools and software to extract and analyze large datasets.
Generate comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
Develop forecasting models to predict sales trends and optimize inventory levels.
**Data Integrity and Quality Control**:Implement processes and tools to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across various marketplace platforms. Conduct regular data audits and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
**Continuous Improvement**:Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and data analysis techniques. Continuously enhance analytical methodologies and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness in category management processes.
**Qualifications**:
- Preferably MBA or someone with an advanced degree or certification in data analytics with exposure to e-commerce.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, software, and data visualization tools will be an added advantage. But bare-minimum Microsoft
