**Export Merchandiser - Indian Handicrafts** **About Us** SwadesiExports is a practical export training and operations platform, empowering individuals and businesses to tap into the global market for Indian handicrafts — including home décor, têxtiles, brassware, pottery, leather goods, wooden crafts, and other GI-tagged treasures. We bridge the gap between artisans, manufacturers, and international buyers through quality-driven merchandising and efficient export operations. **Why This Role Exists** Our buyers expect **consistent quality, timely delivery, and professional communication**. We need an **experienced Export Merchandiser** who can independently manage the entire merchandising process — from sourcing and sampling to production follow-up, quality control, packaging, and shipment — while ensuring buyer satisfaction and repeat orders. **Key Responsibilities1. Merchandising & Buyer Coordination** - Act as the primary point of contact between buyers and production teams. - Understand buyer requirements, specifications, and quality standards for handicraft products. - Prepare and share product catalogues, price quotations, and lead time estimates. - Coordinate with buyers for sample development, approval, and modifications. - Maintain detailed communication records to ensure clarity and avoid disputes. **2. Sourcing & Vendor Management** - Identify and develop reliable artisan clusters, manufacturers, and suppliers across India. - Negotiate costs, timelines, and production terms with vendors. - Monitor production progress and resolve issues proactively to meet deadlines. - Maintain long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure consistency in quality and supply. **3. Production Follow-up & Quality Control** - Develop and monitor production timelines for each order. - Conduct pre-production and mid-production inspections to ensure adherence to buyer requirements. - Implement strict quality control protocols for handmade and GI-tagged products. - Approve final goods before dispatch. **4. Packaging, Labelling & Compliance** - Ensure packaging meets buyer’s branding, safety, and durability standards. - Coordinate labelling as per destination country’s regulations (CE, UKCA, ISPM-15, etc.). - Verify product and packaging compliance with export regulations. **5. Logistics & Documentation** - Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHAs, and shipping lines for timely dispatch. - Prepare and verify export documents including: - Proforma Invoice, Commercial Invoice, Packing List - Bill of Lading / Airway Bill - Certificate of Origin - Fumigation/Phytosanitary Certificates - Insurance and Inspection Certificates - Monitor shipment status and provide buyers with regular updates. **6. Post-Shipment & Buyer Retention** - Ensure timely payment follow-ups and reconciliation. - Gather buyer feedback and resolve any post-shipment issues. - Suggest product improvements and new designs based on buyer trends. - Build repeat business through consistent service and relationship management. **Required Skills & Experience** - **Minimum 5 years** of hands-on experience in export merchandising for handicrafts or similar products. - Proven ability to independently handle the **entire order cycle** — from enquiry to shipment. - Deep knowledge of: - Indian handicraft clusters and product categories - Buyer specification handling and product costing - Export documentation & compliance (IEC, RCMC, GST LUT, etc.) - Shipping & logistics (LCL, FCL, air, sea) - International packaging and labelling standards - Strong vendor negotiation, time management, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication skills in **English & Hindi**. - Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, and online B2B platforms. **Work Timings & Mode** - Full-time, Remote (India-based) with occasional travel for sourcing and QC. - Flexible hours during the day for vendor and buyer coordination. - Must be available during buyer’s business hours across different time zones. **Expected Outcomes** - **Zero defects** in final shipments. - On-time deliveries for 100% of orders. - High buyer satisfaction and repeat orders. - Strong artisan/vendor network with competitive pricing. **Who Should Apply** - Have **real, hands-on experience** in export merchandising for Indian handicrafts. - Can work independently and deliver results without constant supervision. - Are detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about preserving Indian craftsmanship. - Have never managed an actual export order from start to finish. - Only have theoretical knowledge. - Cannot commit to fast-paced buyer timelines. **To Apply**: **"Export Merchandiser Application - SwadesiExports"** Include a brief summary of your past export orders, product categories handled, and key achievements.
