JOB PURPOSE
A storekeeper is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of a store or warehouse, ensuring efficient storage and handling of goods and maintaining accurate inventory records. The role involves receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items as needed. A storekeeper plays a crucial role in maintaining an organized and efficient storage system to support the smooth functioning of the organization.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders.
Maintain accurate records of all stock transactions, including receipts, issues, and returns.
Conduct regular physical inventory checks to reconcile discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
Storage and Organization: Arrange items in an organized and easily accessible manner.
Implement proper storage techniques to prevent damage or deterioration of goods.
Monitor and control the storage layout for optimal space utilization.
Order Fulfillment: Process and fulfill internal requests for materials or products.
Prepare and pack items for shipment or delivery.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Quality Control: Inspect incoming goods for quality and quantity.
Identify and report any damaged or defective items.
Work with vendors to address quality issues and discrepancies.
Documentation: Maintain detailed and up-to-date records of all transactions.
Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and other relevant metrics.
Ensure compliance with documentation and reporting requirements.
Communication: Collaborate with purchasing and procurement teams to ensure accurate and timely supply of goods.
Communicate effectively with various departments to understand their inventory needs.
Provide information on stock availability, lead times, and any relevant issues.
Safety and Security: Adhere to safety protocols in handling and storing materials.
Implement security measures to prevent theft or unauthorized access.
Report any safety hazards or security breaches promptly.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that storage equipment (e.g., shelves, racks, forklifts) is well-maintained and in working order.
Coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs and preventive maintenance.
**Qualifications**:
.Minimum 1 year experience as store keeper
- Bachelor degree in relevant field.
- Proven experience as a storekeeper or in a similar role.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
