**THE ROLE**:
**Job Introduction**:
Delivering high-impact longform journalism is a strategic objective for the World Service. In the past few years, BBC Eye has become a global brand for original, revelatory, and digital-savy longform video journalism. The award-winning team has produced powerful stories from all over the world and has had significant impact.

**Main Responsibilities**:
We are looking for an experienced Producer with rich experience of longform video production. You will support our executive/series producers in the production and rollout of longform work.

You’ll be expected to find, research, and develop powerful stories based on original journalism, and to transform these stories into top-quality longform video for global audiences. You'll work with local journalists, researchers, and reporters, ensuring they are properly briefed and involving them in the editorial process. You'll work closely with the production managers to ensure every aspect of production is carefully planned so programmes come in on schedule and on budget. You’ll lead shoots in the field and oversee complex story edits, working with your team to structure, script, and refine these stories into finished films. You'll lead and motivate Assistant Producers and Researchers, ensuring they have clear and realistic objectives, giving briefings on research, story development, infosec protocols, high-risk mitigation, post-production and impact. You'll collaborate with digital teams across BBC Output and Content areas to craft and lead an impactful rollout for our longform work. You will be responsible for ensuring that all the content you produce adheres to the highest editorial standards of the BBC.
- Proven ability to produce original longform video and a track record of running complex projects in collaboration with sources and local journalists in difficult or hostile environments
- Can identify and select longform stories in a way which demonstrates strong journalistic skills and editorial judgement
- Can drive journalism projects, both in terms of content and style, encouraging innovation and working within BBC editorial guidelines
- Experience in directing and shooting long-form video in the field is desirable
- The ability to edit video using one of the major software platforms (FCPX, Avid, Premiere) is an advantage
- Strong track record of dealing with complex legal, editorial and high risk issues
- Fluency in Hindi is very desirable. Fluency in another language eg Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu would be an advantage
- Excellent scripting and narrative skills, comprehensive experience of running long-form edits, and of delivering stylish films with high production values
- Thorough understanding of the needs and profile of our target audiences across World Service and the ability to translate these into imaginative and compelling multi-platform content
