The Fluid Flow and Reactor Engineering (FFRE) team is a world leading global community of industrial scientists and engineers committed to develop and deploy the latest technologies in fluid flow and reactor engineering to help Shell successfully navigate the energy transition. We solve challenging fluid flow problems for Shell’s assets and projects to make a material business impact.
In this role, you will be joining a team with unique skills and capabilities in areas such as fluid flow modeling, computational fluid dynamics, reactor engineering, fluid structure interaction, erosion, and separation. You will be part of a team that applies both computational and experimental expertise to provide required R&D and technical service support.
**What’s the role?**
As Researcher for Fluid Flow and Reactor Eng, you will be responsible and accountable for execution of part of the R&D program. You will also be executing technical services in the areas of fluid flow and reactor engineering to Shell businesses as an independent contributor. Both of these activities will consist of Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses
- of single-phase and multi-phase flow, running of Shell proprietary fluid flow codes, modeling reactions, scaling up processes, and high-level analyses. You will have to carry out all activities with safety as the top priority (Goal Zero). Further accountabilities are as follows:
- Coach, mentor, and oversee less experienced staff with their technical project work
- Keep abreast of the latest global developments in the space of FFRE
**What we need from you**
- PhD or master’s degree with comparable experience in a discipline with a strong fluid flow and reactor engineering component like chemical engineering, physics, or mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 6-9 years overall work experience with 6 years relevant experience.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of multiphase fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, multiscale modeling techniques, reaction engineering, and process modeling.
- Expert in Computational Fluid Dynamics software packages like Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+ or OpenFOAM.
- Large professional network in FFRE within and outside of Shell and the natural ability to build global professional networks
- Have a proven track record of collaboration in working across team, disciplines, and regional boundaries
- Pro-active and independent in getting work done; a proven self-starter
- Good communication skills; a team player mind-set, giving priority to team goals and maintaining good team relationships
