**Safety Officer**

**POSITION **PURPOSE**:

- Functions as a responsible member of the local Safety Team for safe and efficient operation of the plant and implementing HSE Management systems and key requirements.
- Co-ordinate & cooperate with the interfacing departments to ensure safe work environment throughout the factory and conduct risk assessment using appropriate procedures.
- Extends full support to and co-operate with management representative to ensure that the requirements covered under ISO-9001, 14001 & 45001 regulations are always complied with.
- Support Statutory Compliances at the Site pertaining to Safety as per The Factories Act & The GFR.
- Handling Emergency Control Center as reliever in shift duties as and when required.

**YOUR TASKS AND

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Take proactive initiatives in the matter of HSE with an objective to upgrade the HSE standards at the site by reporting and eliminating unsafe conditions and acts so as to prevent accidents or incidents.
- Conduct Occupational Health & Safety Risk Analysis (OHSRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) & HIRA to mitigate any occupational risks to the employees.
- Coordinate with external safety auditors and department HODs, Plant /Area Managers & Engineers for conducting statutory safety audit for the site as per IS14489 and ensure compliance to observations.
- Support / Coordinate with certified industrial hygienist for conducting Industrial Hygiene monitoring to enforce compliance with applicable legal HSE requirements.
- Conduct EHS rounds at site with Plant teams by advance planning and timely reporting to ensure that there are no HSE deviations. Tracking to ensure that all EHS observations are complied within a stipulated time.
- Steer the Near Miss (Safety Observation) reporting program at the site to ensure physical condition monitoring, reporting unsafe acts, unsafe situations and coordinating / tracking with various functions to eliminate them in time-bound manner.
- Conduct risk assessment through Management of Change (MOC) procedure. Monthly Monitoring of MOC procedure at site and maintaining all updated documents related to P&PS reviews.
- Act as verifier and investigator for incidents reported in Intelex and conduct Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis for incidents occurring at the site.
- Coordinate and conduct Central Safety Committee Meetings involving workers and management on a quarterly basis and prepare MOM and track action points generated during the meeting for completion.
- To plan & organize the campaigns, competitions, contests, and other promotional activities (National Safety Day / Week, Bayer Safety Day, Road Safety Week etc ), which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions at workplace.
- Maintaining documents related to global audits, coordinating with other departments for compliance.
- As P&PS Maintainer (after qualifying), coordinate with P&PS practitioners, Plant and Project teams to conduct safety reviews in line with schedule to meet the P&PS KPI.
- Planning & conducting safety trainings and toolbox talk for employees as per the requirement. Maintain training calendar and records for retaining organization’s certification as training institute under section 111(a) of The Factories Act.
- Manage Emergency Control Center in Shifts as and when required as reliever. Supervise Firemen in shifts. Plan and allocate shift activities and optimize use of resources at workplace.
- Ensure safe work procedure and condition and issue work permit to the concerned employees and ensure that “Permit to work system” is complied with religiously for prevention of accident / incident.
- Conduct Mock drill, Fire drill and Plant level safety meetings, and coordinating with other departments for compliance.
- To advise purchasing and stores departments in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protective equipment.
- Coordinating and conducting safety meetings with Contractors, Safety Monitors, Safety Supervisors, and preparing MOM with action plan.
- Update SOPs, Safety Training Modules, ISO-9001, 14001 & 45001 documentation. Prepare Monthly HSE reports and presentations.
- Support plants in implementation of Behaviour Based Safety and Machinery Safety.
