1. Crane Operations:
Operate quay cranes (ship-to-shore gantry cranes) to load and discharge containers from vessels efficiently.
Ensure safe and precise movement of containers to avoid damage to cargo, vessels, and terminal equipment.
Follow real-time instructions from the vessel planning and operations control team to optimize productivity.
Adjust crane speed and movement based on vessel conditions, wind speeds, and operational requirements.
Use remote control or manual operation modes depending on crane type and terminal procedures.
2. Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all terminal safety regulations, SOPs, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines.
Ensure compliance with local and international safety standards, including ISPS and OSHA regulations.
Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections to verify the crane’s operational readiness.
Report malfunctions, safety hazards, and operational concerns immediately to the maintenance and operations team.
Participate in safety drills, toolbox talks, and training programs to enhance operational awareness.
3. Operational Efficiency:
Maintain high productivity levels by efficiently handling assigned container moves per hour (GMPH).
Coordinate with signalers, deck personnel, and ground staff to ensure seamless operations.
Minimize operational delays by troubleshooting minor issues and adjusting crane positioning as needed.
Assist in optimizing quay crane usage to improve berth productivity and reduce vessel turnaround time.
4. Equipment Maintenance & Reporting:
Perform daily inspections of the crane, checking brakes, hoisting mechanisms, spreaders, and electrical systems.
Maintain proper documentation of crane usage, downtime, and maintenance requirements.
Work closely with the engineering and maintenance teams to schedule timely maintenance and repairs.
