Following are some quintessential responsibilities that will be undertaken:

- Offer one-to-one sessions, evaluate a student’s needs and implement a custom counselling plan.
- Work with groups, families as well as communities for long-term and stronger mental-health care.
- Encourage students to discuss emotions and experiences.
- Help students build resilience and healthy coping mechanisms to improve mental health.
- Help students define personal goals, create action plans to reach these goals.
- Examine and help spread awareness on issues, which include but are not limited to trauma, adjustment, anger management, bullying, depression, anxiety, gender-identity and fluidity, relationships, self-concept, sleep-hygiene, stress and time-management etc.
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers, consultants and community resources in order to create a holistic mental-health care plan.

The record of all clients will be kept confidential except in cases where there is a direct harm/danger to students or others around them. The designated authority will be informed in such cases. The counsellor will follow strict ethics during their period of work.
