**JD -STAFF NURSE -OT**

1. Arrive in the unit 5 - 10 minutes before the duty commences

2. Ensure that the OT is operationally ready every morning prior to surgery

3. Ensure that all life saving equipment is operational and inform of Executive Nurse of defective equipment identified

4. Ensure that all required items are received from the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD)

5. Ensure that the instrument count is written on the OT white board

6. Assist the surgeon in the performance of the operation

7. Ensure precautions are taken when operating on HIV positive or HbsAG positive / HCV patient

8. Ensure correct gauze, mop and instrument count at the end of surgery

9. Ensure that specimens that have been obtained are properly bottled, named and sent to the pathology department and acknowledge receipt obtained.

10. Ensure that all equipment and instruments are in optimum working condition

11. Ensure segregation and disposal of any tissue waste as per the SOP

12. Maintains strict aseptic technique during Operation to ensure safety of patients and prevent complications

13. Maintains proper OT discipline in terms of dress, slippers, cap gown mask and hand washing

14. Follows operation theatre protocols

15. Keep all the instruments ready for use based on the scheduled surgeries for the day

16. Co-ordinate with the staff nurses in the wards to ensure the correct flow of patients into the theatre

17. Receive the patient in the OT, takeover from the ward nurse - premeditation, investigation reports, file and the preoperative check list

18. Ensure that the preoperative checklist is complete before shifting the patient to the operating table with appropriate site working.

19. Confirm identity of each patient prior to preparation of the patient

20. Takes post-operative instructions from the doctor and hands over to the ward carefully

21. Supervise the cleaning of the OT in the intervening period between two surgeries

22. Send swabs at regular intervals to assess growth, if any.

23. Supervise that proper washing up procedure is followed in the OT

24. Will be over all responsible for giving the instructions and ensuring the segregation of the waste generated in the OT and readying for disposal of the waste

25. Any other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Director Nursing

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
