The Property Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely property tax payments for mortgage borrowers.

This role involves regular communication with tax authorities, homeowners, and escrow departments to gather information, verify property tax statuses, and resolve discrepancies.

The specialist plays a key role in supporting mortgage loan servicing by maintaining compliance with property tax requirements and preventing potential penalties or liens on properties due to late or missed tax payments.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Property Tax Verification & Payment Processing**:

- Initiate contact with county and local tax authorities to verify property tax amounts, due dates, and payment statuses.
- Process and validate property tax payments on behalf of mortgage clients in compliance with legal deadlines and requirements.
- Collaborate with escrow departments to allocate and disburse funds for property tax obligations.
- **Data Management & Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate records of property tax payments, including payment confirmations and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Update loan servicing systems with the latest property tax information and ensure that borrower accounts reflect correct tax statuses.
- Organize and document all communication with tax agencies to support audits and dispute resolution.
- **Client & Customer Support**:

- Communicate with homeowners and mortgage clients to provide property tax information, answer inquiries, and clarify any issues related to their tax obligations.
- Educate clients on the property tax process, potential consequences of non-payment, and their responsibilities under mortgage agreements.
- **Research & Problem Resolution**:

- Investigate discrepancies in tax amounts, payment statuses, and tax delinquency notices; work with tax authorities to resolve these issues promptly.
- Research property tax policies for different counties and municipalities to ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- **Compliance & Reporting**:

- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local property tax regulations, as well as company policies.
- Prepare periodic reports on tax payment statuses, outstanding obligations, and delinquencies for internal stakeholders.
