Job Profile_

The Research Associate - Maritime Sustainability and Policy will play a central role in supporting India-s maritime green transition through applied research, evidence-based policy development, and technical knowledge generation. The role is ideal for mid-career professionals with a strong foundation in marine engineering, naval architecture, environmental science, or energy systems, and a keen interest in integrating sustainability into the maritime and port sectors.

This role will contribute to projects on green fuels, lifecycle assessments, emissions modelling, circular economy in ship recycling, and sustainable port infrastructure. The Research Associate will also be responsible for producing high-quality reports, engaging with policymakers, and supporting knowledge partnerships across government, industry, and academia.

Master-s degree in:
Naval Architecture
Marine Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
Nuclear Technology
Energy Studies
Maritime Policy or Ocean Technology
Sustainability Science with maritime/industrial focus
- Skills_

Deep understanding of maritime sustainability issues
- including:
IMO-s decarbonization strategy and MARPOL Annex VI
India-s Green Ports and Shipping Programmes
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and MRV (Monitoring
- Reporting
- Verification) frameworks
Strong analytical skills and comfort with tools such as Excel
- LCA software
- or GIS platforms
Excellent technical writing skills and ability to translate complex research into accessible policy content
Track record of writing reports

Ability to work independently
