Steel Detailer

**Job Summary**:
The Detailer is responsible for preparing detailed fabrication drawings for structural steel components, pre-engineered building systems (PEB), and other related materials. The role involves translating design and engineering concepts into accurate, precise, and manufacturable drawings that will guide the fabrication and erection of steel structures. The Detailer must work closely with Design Engineers, fabricators, and contractors to ensure that all drawings meet specifications, building codes, and client requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Drafting and Detailing**:

- Prepare detailed, accurate, and clear fabrication drawings for structural steel, PEB components (such as beams, columns, trusses, cladding, etc.), and associated connection details.
- Produce and modify detailed shop drawings based on initial design concepts, including all required dimensions, notes, and materials.
- Ensure all drawings are consistent with the design intent, industry standards, and project specifications.
- **Collaboration with Engineers and Fabricators**:

- Work closely with Design Engineers to clarify any ambiguities in design intent, and ensure that the design is properly conveyed through the detail drawings.
- Coordinate with the fabrication team to ensure drawings are clear and feasible for production.
- Provide technical support to the fabrication team, addressing any questions or issues regarding the drawings or designs.
- **Modeling and Visualization**:

- Create 3D models (using software like Tekla Structures, Autodesk Revit, or similar) to visualize complex assemblies and structural components.
- Ensure that models are accurate and reflect the latest design changes or revisions.
- Generate bills of materials (BOM) and parts lists from 3D models to facilitate procurement and fabrication processes.
- **Design Modifications and Revisions**:

- Modify and update drawings as necessary to accommodate design changes or updates from engineering and client requirements.
- Ensure that all revisions are properly documented, and that the most current version of drawings is always available to the team.
- Conduct periodic reviews of drawings to ensure quality, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- **Quality Control and Compliance**:

- Ensure that all detailing work adheres to relevant codes, standards (e.g., AISC, IS 800, etc.), and client specifications.
- Review work for errors and inconsistencies, performing thorough quality checks before submitting final drawings.
- Stay updated on the latest drafting standards, detailing practices, and software tools.
- **Communication and Reporting**:

- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure that drawings meet the project timelines and quality standards.
- Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates on drawing production and revisions.
- Provide feedback and suggest improvements in the detailing process to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- **Documentation and Record-Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate records of all drawings, revisions, and technical documents related to the project.
- Ensure that all project files are organized and properly stored, both in physical and electronic formats.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for project handover, including operation manuals and as-built drawings.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- **Educational Qualification**:

- A degree, diploma, or certification in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Drafting Technology.
- Specialized courses or certifications in Steel Detailing or PEB Detailing are a plus.
- **Experience**:

- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in detailing for structural steel or Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB).
- Experience with detailing for steel fabrication and construction projects is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of detailing software (e.g., Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, Revit, Advance Steel, etc.).
- **Technical Skills**:

- Expertise in structural detailing and fabrication drawing preparation.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software and 3D modeling tools.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and codes for steel structures (e.g., AISC, IS 800, Eurocodes).
- Ability to generate bills of materials (BOMs) and parts lists.
- **Soft Skills**:

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective coordination with engineers, fabricators, and project managers.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) would be an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of construction materials and fabrication processes is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
