**Job description of RMO**

**Job Summary**
- RMO will be in charge of Geriatric Care Home (GCH) based in Bangalore.

**Clinical, General Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Duties of a General Practitioner and an administrator.
- Basic knowledge about current science of ageing and longevity, including theories of ageing, the physiology and natural history of ageing, pathologic changes with ageing, and diseases of the aged is helpful;
- Experience in dealing with aspects of preventive medicine, including nutrition, oral health, exercise, screening, immunization, and chemoprophylaxis against disease is important;
- leading multidisciplinary team in Geriatric assessment, including medical, behavioural, cognitive, functional status, social support, and environmental aspects related to health;
- Understanding of the Activities of daily living (ADL) & Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL);
- Medication prescription & review & liaison with specialists.
- Able to confidently assess by taking history, doing physical and mental examination, and requesting laboratory results or findings & interpreting & offering care plan;
- Aware of general principles of geriatric rehabilitation & appropriate liaison with specialists with cardiac, neurological, orthopaedic, pulmonary, and rheumatically impairments;
- Leading planning of the activity schedule to keep patients active & cognitive stimulation.
- Opportunities to understand and use assistive devices, environmental modification, patient and family education, and psycho social and recreational counselling.
- Management of patients in long-term care settings, including palliative care, administration, self-regulation, and the continuum from short
- to long-term care;
- Hospice type care if required including pain management, symptom relief, comfort care, and end-of-life issues;
- Basic knowledge of topics of special interest to geriatric medicine, including cognitive impairment, depression and related disorders, falls, incontinence, osteoporosis, fractures, functional impairment, malnutrition, pain, pressure ulcers, senior (elder) abuse, sensory impairment, and sleep disorders would be useful in performing duties.
- Addressing patient complaints on day-to-day issues.
- Knowledge of Pharmacologic issues associated with ageing, including changes in pharmacokinetics and pharmaco dynamics, drug interactions, over medication, appropriate prescribing, and adherence;
- Psycho social aspects of ageing, including interpersonal and family relationships, living situations, adjustment disorders, depression, bereavement, and anxiety;
- Regularly involving Patient and family members & educating them education, and offer counselling for patients requiring rehabilitation care;
- Basic understanding of common ethical and medico legal issues pertinent to geriatric medicine, including limitation of treatment, competency, guardianship, right to refuse treatment, advance directives, designation of a surrogate decision maker for health care, wills, and durable power of attorney for medical affairs;
- Carrying out audits on regular basis in the facility.
- Training and supervising and Nursing and caregivers and Keeping staff updated on new healthcare regulations.
- Reporting to the Board of Directors regularly.
- Ensuring that all healthcare regulations and safety standards are met.

- Doctor need to identify emergencies or need of secondary level of care & either transfer to casualty or OPD basis or hospitalisation as appropriate.
- Coordinating with patient’s family doctors on regular basis.
- Conducting the regular meetings with all the stakeholders.

**Salary**: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
