Provide routine care for all patients admitted in ICU.
- Must follow universal aseptic techniques.
- Assessing a patient’s condition and planning and implementing patient care plans.
- Bed side nursing care for assigned stable patients in the ICU unit based on basic assessment and evaluating the outcomes.
- Make intake and output chart after monitoring the fluid and electrolyte balance.
- Conduct nursing interventions like wound drainage, catheterization and medication administration to delegated patient within the scope of practice.
- Assisting physicians in performing procedures.
- Observing and recording patient vital signs frequently.
- Check and ensure the ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment function properly.
- Monitoring vital signs and report any deviation from normal to the concerned doctor immediately.
- Carry out various procedures like tracheostomy, intubation etc.
- Specimen collection and send to the laboratory for the test, record the results accurately.
- Administer medications and treatment to the patient as prescribed by the physician.
- Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in case of emergency situation.
- Administering intravenous fluids and medications.
- Collaborating with fellow members of the critical care team.
- Responding to life
- saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment.
- Providing education and support to patient families.
- Adhere to the hospital policies to prevent infection and to ensure standard healthcare to the patients.
- Investigations should be sent by 6 AM and reports should be collected by 8 AM.
- Should accompany the physicians for rounds.
- Hand rub before and after touching each patients.
