**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Strategic Leadership**
- Develop and execute a comprehensive publishing strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Drive innovation in academic publishing, including the adoption of digital and open-access models.
- Identify and explore new opportunities for growth, including partnerships, collaborations, and expansion into emerging disciplines or markets.

**2. Editorial Oversight**
- Collaborate with editors, editorial boards, and academic stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of editorial excellence and ethical publishing.
- Ensure the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed content that meets the needs of the scholarly community.
- Oversee the implementation of policies related to copyright, intellectual property, and publication ethics.

**3. Operational Management**
- Lead and manage a team of publishing professionals, including editorial, production, and marketing teams.
- Optimize workflows and publishing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain publication schedules.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, including indexing and impact factor requirements.

**4. Financial Oversight**
- Develop and manage budgets for the publishing program, ensuring financial sustainability and profitability.
- Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to achieve revenue goals, including subscription models, advertising, and author-pays models.
- Secure funding and sponsorship opportunities to support special projects or initiatives.

**5. Digital Transformation**
- Drive the organization’s digital publishing strategy, including online platforms, data analytics, and digital tools for authors, reviewers, and readers.
- Enhance user engagement through innovative technologies such as AI-powered search, personalized content recommendations, and mobile optimization.
- Ensure accessibility and discoverability of journals through effective digital marketing and distribution strategies.

**6. Stakeholder Engagement**
- Foster strong relationships with academic societies, institutions, and funding bodies to enhance the reputation and reach of the publishing program.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, forums, and professional networks.
- Act as a thought leader and advocate for academic publishing trends and best practices.

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Educational Background**
- Advanced degree in publishing, communications, business administration, or a related field. A background in academia or a Ph.D. is highly desirable.

**Professional Experience**
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in academic or scholarly publishing.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale publishing operations and achieving strategic goals.

**Technical and Interpersonal Skills**
- In-depth understanding of the academic publishing landscape, including peer review processes, open-access models, and emerging trends.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in digital publishing technologies and platforms.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
