Build Automation Architect

**What You'll Do**

You will be technically responsible for rehauling & maintaining software build and release systems for multiple products with diverse codebases, toolchains, and CI/CD workflows. You will bring experience and expertise to re-architect and refactor/optimize the build machinery. You will implement, integrate, automate, and evangelize state-of-the-art build/release management tools and processes on a scaled distributed infrastructure to produce faster and more predictable builds.

**Responsibilities**:

- Re-architect/Re-haul the current build automation solution to produce faster, incremental functional Builds.
- Identify, evaluate & integrate new tools/technologies to improve developer experience and productivity.
- Develop, maintain, and improve the software build and release process, including version control tools and software packaging.
- Troubleshoot & systemically resolve complex build failure and release bottlenecks.
- .
- Hardening of Build environment to comply with Security requirements and guidelines.
- Build Optimization: Analyze and optimize the build process for efficiency and performance.
- Define and enforce version control strategies, including branching and merging strategies, to enable parallel development.
- Provide technical mentorship for build and release engineers.
- Drive technology roadmap for the software build and release systems and progressively reduce tech debt.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- 12+ years of experience in software build automation and release engineering.
- Deep expertise with Jenkins - Groovy scripting, Jenkins scripted Pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with at least two or more of the following: Make, JAM, Gradle, Bazel.
- Strong experience with one or more software version control tools: Perforce (preferable), Git, Subversion
- Experience with release management tools such as Artifactory, Nexus, or JFrog.
- Strong scripting & automation skills in languages such as Bash, Python etc
- Strong command of Linux OS Internals
- Working knowledge and experience in Containers, Ansible & Kubernetes
- Super communication and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve build-related issues effectively - Understand common build failures, error handling, logging, and debugging techniques to ensure smooth build processes.
- Monitoring and Metrics: Be aware of monitoring tools and techniques that can be utilized to gather metrics and insights into the build automation process.

**Love to Have**
- You were a developer in Java/C++/Perl for a considerable time of your career and switched gears to Build and Release Engineering.
- Used/configured containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Exposure to and interest in Open Source frameworks, tools, and technologies.
- Experience in Continuous integration system plugin development.
- Experience with unit test tools and code coverage tools
- Experience with software development using Java or C++
- Exposure to Infra Structure as Code concepts in the context of Build Infrastructure
