**Compliance Management Team - Freight Brokerage (USA OTR & Drayage)**

At a freight brokerage company, the **Compliance Management Team** plays a critical role in ensuring that all OTR (Over-the-Road) and Drayage operations are conducted in strict alignment with federal, state, and port regulations. This ensures the integrity of the business, protects clients, and upholds industry standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Carrier Compliance Verification**:

- Verifying that all contracted carriers are fully authorized, insured, and compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations. This includes active MC authority, sufficient cargo/liability insurance, and up-to-date safety ratings.
- **Document Control & Recordkeeping**:
Managing broker-carrier agreements, rate confirmations, BOLs, PODs, and certificates of insurance. Ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and accessible for audit or client reference.Ensuring port and terminal rules are followed, including TWIC credential checks, container availability, and appointment scheduling. Special attention to clean truck rules (e.g., CARB compliance in California).Supporting claim resolution processes for cargo loss or damage, and ensuring liability is clearly documented and defensible.Developing and maintaining robust onboarding procedures to verify carrier legitimacy and monitor ongoing compliance (e.g., safety score changes, expired insurance alerts).Reviewing and managing unique client compliance requirements, such as routing guides, tracking protocols, and documentation standards.Keeping internal staff trained on regulatory changes and best practices, including TIA (Transportation Intermediaries Association) standards and ethical brokering guidelines.Performing regular internal audits and readiness checks to ensure the company is fully prepared for potential regulatory audits or client evaluations.
