Introduction:
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of data science, research and financial services. You’ll be working in the Data Science and Advanced Analytics team, widely recognised as a leader in the banking sector in using newer data sources, techniques and technologies for enriching our customer’s experience using quicker, richer insights and robust analytical pipelines. Our work has become all the more urgent and interesting because of COVID-19. What will you be doing?
While many banks are stuffy places, we’re not. We work creatively and entrepreneurially across the bank and across a diversity of products including Barclaycard, mortgages and savings. The constantly evolving nature of our projects and partners means we analyse a variety of data, particularly those that are unstructured, large and granular. You’ll help shape your role, but we anticipate you will:

- Deliver transformative data science projects as part of diverse, multifunctional teams
- Use Python to extract, transform and analyse various types of data, constructing robust pipelines to combine multiple sources
- Document code appropriately, so that it can be replicated and extended
- Communicate analytical results clearly to senior managers and stakeholders, both verbally and with visuals
- Develops data science knowledge through self-learning, sharing that learning with the rest of the data science team
- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

What we’re looking for:

- Excellent modelling skills, as evidenced by an advanced degree, having broad familiarity with machine learning and a budding specialism in a particular area
- Proficiency in Python, with the ability to develop, test, and document production-grade code

Skills that will help you in the role:

- Prior work experience in an analytical organisation
- Clear capability to find a story within data, and narrate it with powerful visualisations and a compelling voice-over
- Clear passion for making financial services more customer-centric using data science ethically
