- **Patient Triage and Assessment**: Medical Officers in the ED are responsible for triaging patients based on the severity of their condition and conducting initial assessments to determine the nature and urgency of medical care required.
- **Medical Diagnosis and Treatment**: They diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, injuries, and emergencies presenting to the ED. This may include trauma, acute medical illnesses, cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, and neurological emergencies.
- **Emergency Procedures and Interventions**: Medical Officers are trained to perform emergency procedures and interventions to stabilize patients in critical condition. This may include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, intravenous access, defibrillation, and emergency medication administration.
- **Coordination of Care**: They coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team, including nurses, paramedics, specialists, and ancillary staff, to ensure comprehensive and timely management of patients in the ED.
- **Emergency Medicine Protocols**: Medical Officers follow established protocols and guidelines for the management of various medical emergencies, including those related to trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric emergencies.
- **Diagnostic Testing and Imaging**: They order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies, such as blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds, to aid in the diagnosis and management of patients presenting to the ED.
