**Job Summary**:
The **Door Access Control System Technician** is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of access control systems used to regulate and monitor entry into buildings and restricted areas. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in various types of access control systems, including key card systems, biometric scanners, security software, and hardware components such as door locks, readers, and sensors.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Installation & Setup**:

- Install, configure, and calibrate electronic access control systems and related hardware components.
- Ensure proper alignment of card readers, sensors, door locks, keypads, and biometric devices.
- Set up system software, user databases, and configure security protocols (e.g., user access levels, door scheduling, etc.).
- Program control panels and integrate systems with other building security systems (e.g., video surveillance, alarm systems).
- **Maintenance & Repair**:

- Perform routine maintenance checks to ensure systems are functioning correctly.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty components, including access panels, readers, controllers, door strikes, and power supplies.
- Replace worn or broken parts, test functionality, and verify system performance after repairs.
- Update software and firmware to ensure compatibility with the latest security standards and patches.
- **System Upgrades & Enhancements**:

- Assist with system upgrades or expansions, adding new devices, controllers, or access points as required.
- Recommend improvements or new technology to enhance system reliability and functionality.
- Ensure systems are scalable for future growth and evolving security needs.
- **Technical Support & Troubleshooting**:

- Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting assistance for issues reported by clients or security personnel.
- Diagnose issues related to access control systems, such as failed access attempts, reader malfunctions, or software issues.
- Ensure all system failures or malfunctions are addressed promptly to minimize security risks.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and system configurations.
- Document all work completed, including maintenance schedules, system updates, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide clients with detailed reports of work performed, including suggested improvements or follow-up actions.
- **Client Interaction**:

- Work closely with clients to assess their access control needs and provide recommendations.
- Provide training to clients or end-users on how to use the access control system, including card issuance, software access, and reporting.
- Ensure that systems are configured to meet client security policies and operational requirements.
- **Compliance & Security**:

- Ensure all systems are installed and maintained in compliance with local security regulations, codes, and industry standards.
- Adhere to company policies regarding data privacy, system integrity, and secure access management.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Respond to emergency service requests promptly to restore system functionality and prevent security breaches.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving access control issues during critical situations.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification in electronics, security systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Ongoing professional development in access control systems and technology.
- **Experience**:

- Proven experience working with electronic security systems (2+ years preferred).
- Familiarity with various types of access control technologies such as proximity cards, smart cards, biometric scanners, and PIN-based systems.
- Experience working with security system software and networking, including understanding of IP-based devices and cloud-based access systems.
- **Skills**:

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with hand tools, test equipment, and security system software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of electrical and low-voltage wiring.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces or on ladders.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

**Working Conditions**:

- Travel to various client sites as needed.
- May be required to work after hours or on weekends for installations or emergency service requests.
- Exposure to standard construction site environments, including electrical hazards.
