Job Title: 1st Commi - Chinese Cuisine
**Job Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Food Preparation**:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of Chinese dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and sauces.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in all dishes, adhering to recipe standards and portion control.
- **Cooking Techniques**:
- Proficient in Chinese culinary techniques, such as stir-frying, steaming, and braising, while ensuring that dishes are authentic and meet high standards.
- Manage and operate kitchen equipment specific to Chinese cooking, such as woks and steamers.
- **Quality Control**:
- Ensure all dishes are presented in a visually appealing and appetizing manner.
- Conduct regular checks for food freshness, quality, and proper storage practices.
- **Kitchen Operations**:
- Work alongside other chefs in the kitchen, contributing to a collaborative and productive environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas and comply with sanitation and safety regulations.
- **Inventory and Supplies**:
- Assist in tracking ingredient inventory, reporting shortages, and helping to reorder supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and preservation of ingredients to prevent waste.
- **Team Support**:
- Collaborate with team members, sharing knowledge and supporting a positive and efficient kitchen culture.
- Participate in training sessions and be willing to learn and implement new recipes as needed.
**Qualifications**
- Proven experience as a Commis I Chef or similar role in a Chinese kitchen.
- In-depth knowledge of Chinese culinary techniques and ingredients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Culinary certification or relevant culinary training is preferred.
**Work Environment**
- Primarily operates in a kitchen setting, with some exposure to high heat, sharp tools, and various cooking equipment.
- Must be able to work on weekends, holidays, and evening shifts as needed.
