Key Responsibilities:
- **Patient Assessment and Monitoring**:ICU nurses constantly assess patients' conditions, monitor vital signs, and interpret data from various medical equipment like ventilators and monitors.
- **Medication Administration**:They administer prescribed medications, including intravenous fluids and medications, and manage patient pain and sedation.
- **Life Support Management**:ICU nurses are trained to operate and manage life support equipment such as ventilators, hemodynamic monitors, and other critical care devices.
- **Team Collaboration**:They work closely with physicians, other nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- **Emergency Response**:ICU nurses are prepared to respond to emergency situations, including performing CPR and other life-saving measures.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:They maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all care, interventions, and observations.
- **Patient and Family Support**:ICU nurses provide emotional support and education to patients and their families, helping them understand the patient's condition and treatment.
- **Infection Control**:They adhere to strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infection in the ICU.
