- The role will involve providing technical support for the A2P SMS platform, both in response to client support issues that have been escalated from the L1 Service Desk, and to support the internal team in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the platform. This will involve analyzing log file, querying data stored in the system, performing packet captures and traces on the network, writing ad hoc scripts to perform data repair or to analyze existing data to help determine the root cause of the issue and collaborate with and escalate to engineering to come up with a solution where needed. The role will also involve assisting engineering with some operations / dev-ops tasks. This could involve things such as performing deployments, assisting with data migration or export or testing and re-creating known or anticipated issues.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in an engineering, technical operations, or technical support role
- Experience supporting mission critical fully redundant services with high uptime requirements.
- Strong experience working with REST API’s, SMPP 3.4/5.0, able to use tools such as curl or postman to construct ad hoc requests.
- Strong general Unix/Linux skills including shell scripting (bash)
- Experience working at an SMS Aggregator or CPaaS provider.
- A good understanding of networking / internetworking
- Familiarity with low level network protocols and able to interpret a packet trace
- Familiar with all the major components of an internet facing network (DNS, load balancer, proxy, reverse proxy, firewall, VPN, Mail relay, etc.)
- Experience of supporting high volume low latency systems.
- Experience working in a cloud environment with a containerized deployment.
- Good scripting skills in either python or Perl.
- Experienced working with RDBMS (MySQL), performing SQL queries, exports etc.
- An understanding of asynchronous systems and queueing.
- Excellent communication skills, Fluency in English
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Able to work autonomously without guidance, reacting to and owning the resolution of an issue and escalating to engineering where appropriate.
- Well versed with ITIL processes
