SNEHA, a Mumbai-based non-profit with over 450 staff, focuses on improving health and nutrition in urban
slums. Using a life-cycle approach, it addresses critical health and nutrition needs at key stages—from
adolescence to family planning—aiming to enhance outcomes for women and children in vulnerable
communities across Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
It focuses on enhancing urban health by empowering both care seekers and providers. We work with informal
settlement communities to drive change and partner with public health systems to ensure sustainable
improvements. Our programs include Maternal and Child Health, Empowerment Health and Sexuality of
Adolescents, Public System Partnership, Prevention of Violence against Women and Children, SNEHA Shakti,
Palliative Care, and Livelihood Generation.

- THE PROGRAM - PREVENTION ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN_**
SNEHA’s Program on Prevention of Violence against Women and Children aims to develop high‐impact strategies
for primary prevention, ensure survivors’ access to protection and justice, empower women to claim their rights,
mobilize communities around ‘zero tolerance for violence’, and respond to the needs and rights of excluded and
neglected groups. The Program prioritizes enhanced co-ordination of the state response to crimes against women
through convergence approach that works with government and public systems to reinforce their role in assuring
basic social, civil and economic security. Primary preventive interventions are carried out through community
outreach programs and campaigns. Secondary interventions for survivors of violence are provided through a
comprehensive service-oriented system.

**Role**:Building capacity of volunteers on gender based violence related issues. Creating a
pool of community volunteers (Men, Mitras and Youth) who will become advocates in the
community to sustain work at community level.
**Educational Requirement**: Minimum BSW/ MSW preferred
**Experience**:At least three years’ work experience with NGO.

**COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION**:
**ENGAGEMENT WITH VOLUNTEERS**
Conducting monthly meeting and sessions with volunteers and engage them in the community
Mobilize and engage volunteers in community level events on health and nutrition and GBV.
Guide community volunteers to lead Individual/collective actions in the community.
Conduct training and capacity building of the team/ Community volunteers.
Support and guide volunteers in organizing awareness campaigns on the issue of gender based violence
**ENGAGEMENT WITH STAKEHOLDERS**
Link the volunteers with police, Health systems, DLSA
To coordinate with Health post, ICDS and police for convergence while conducting community Meetings
and events.
To coordinate with local groups of youth, CBOs and NGOs to network to collaborate activities.
Participate in team discussion, stakeholder’s meetings for program implementation
Link volunteers to social protection schemes and ensure its uptake in coordination with SPS team
**ENGAGEMENT WITH COMMUNITY GROUPS**
Ensure formation of men’s groups in the community.
Ensure formation and sustainability of Youth theater group by regular training, meetings and follow ups.
Ensure mobilization and awareness among men to sustain Men’s work of PVWC Program in the
community
Ensure regular meetings, workshops and follow ups with Mitras.
**DOCUMENTATION**:
Maintain beneficiaries and other data update in CommCare
Maintaining data of all designated households, individual beneficiary in CommCare and if required in
physical registers/book
Area mapping, household and beneficiary registration
Prepare a monthly calendar of activities/events
Prepare case stories on monthly basis

Hindi
- and Marathi speaking skills
MS Office skills are necessary.
