Introduction
- MSSQL Change DBA-Lead is part of the team that delivers top quality, security compliant new Oracle databases for different business lines
- The DBA is expected to possess strong technical knowledge and help business lines make wise choices in their database requirements.
- Role to be a MSSQL technical SME and provide technical support, advice and guidance to all Barclays business areas implementing SQL Server based solutions.

What will you be doing?
- Ownership and leadership of MSSQL Projects with migration to latest MSSQL versions and MSSQL server builds with proper QA checks.
- Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, database security and database patterns, adhering to bank’s governance and control procedures.
- Provide on-call rota support and weekend support as required
- Lead and define database delivery requirements in MSSQL Project space.
- Able to clearly communicate with different BUs and provide A&G and technical solutions to business.

What we’re looking for:

- Good knowledge of SQL DBA basics.
- Experience with setup/configuration/support of SQL Server 2008/2008R2, SQL 2012, SQL 2014, SQL 2016, SQL 2017, SQL 2019
- Looking for SQL DBA with expert knowledge and hands-on experience on SQL databases migration from SQL 2008/2012 to SQL 2016/2017/2019
- Good knowledge of Windows cluster.
- Good Hands-on & Practical knowledge High Availability features like Replication, Mirroring, Logshipping, AlwaysON
- Good knowledge of Physical & Virtual SQL servers.
- Good to have AWS/Azure Cloud knowledge.
- Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools.
- Ability to understand and influence high level technical design of Database components
- Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices
- Hands-on experience on SQL server builds on Virtual/Physical servers.
- Flexibility to work during weekends and night shifts wherever needed to meet projects deliveries deadlines.
- Should be able to take complete ownership of the project/activities assigned to the DBA.

Skills that will help you in the role:

- Should have completed BE/MCA.
- Strong skills in designing and delivering platforms to hosts SQL server, covering HA and DR, at Enterprise scale.
- Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools.
- Demonstrate extensive expertise in performance tuning including both query and server optimization
- Understanding of Cloud Based Computing in particular RDS\Azure
