Job Description -Cytogeneticist/Senior Cytogeneticist

**Business Unit - **Diagnostic Laboratory Operations

Purpose of the main job

Technical work related to processing of various samples for cytogenetic study

Main responsibilities
- Culturing different samples for karyotyping. Expertise in checking confluence of cells for long term cultures.
- Harvesting, slide preparation, capturing of images and preparing karyograms.
- Pre-finalizing of reports
- 2nd day Processing of samples for FISH and analysis
- Train the junior staff in different techniques
- Data analysis, and report entry in LIMS
- First level authorization of reports
- Routinely follow the Samples from receipt to reporting and storage and ensure TAT compliance.
- Prepare daily or monthly reports as needed for the number of samples processed, reported and cancelled.
- Takes ownership of the processes and tasks handed over - maintenance of Instruments and follow the calibration of instruments and pipettes.
- Keep track of ILC samples for audit purpose.
- Keep track of cases that are urgent.
- Keep track of completed cases for critical alerts
- Take responsibility for following quality SOPs and GLP.

**REQUIRED COMPETENCE**:
**Education**:

- Graduate/Postgraduate in Life science, preferably in Biomedical genetics /Zoology/ Medical genetics/Applied Genetics/ Human Genetics.

**Required work experience related to position**

Junior Cytogeneticist - Fresher or 1 - 2 years of experience

Senior Cytogeneticist - 3 to 5 years of experience

Special requirements / Skills / Attributes

Experience in an NABL accredited Cytogenetic laboratory

- Ensure proper process flow and TAT for different tests in order to remain competitive in the lab service business.
