Assistant Dy. Nursing Superintendent

An Assistant Deputy Nursing Superintendent (ADNS) is responsible for overseeing the nursing care within a designated area of a hospital, including supervising nursing staff, ensuring quality patient care, managing daily operations, and acting as a liaison between the nursing staff and the Nursing Superintendent, while also performing administrative tasks like staff scheduling, record-keeping, and implementing nursing policies and procedures within their assigned unit. Key Responsibilities:

- **Patient Care Supervision**:

- Conduct regular rounds in assigned wards to monitor patient care quality, assess patient needs, and address any issues.
- Ensure proper implementation of nursing care plans and protocols.
- Monitor the quality of nursing care provided by staff nurses and address any concerns.
- Delegate tasks to nursing staff based on patient needs and staff competency.
- **Staff Management**:

- Supervise and mentor nursing staff within the assigned unit.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
- Address staff concerns and provide necessary support.
- Participate in staff recruitment and orientation processes.
- **Administrative Duties**:

- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies and equipment within the unit.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures related to nursing practice.
- Prepare reports on nursing activities and patient status for the Nursing Superintendent.
- Investigate and address any complaints related to nursing care
- **Education and Training**:

- Provide on-the-job training and in-service education to nursing staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research projects.
- Stay updated on current nursing practices and advancements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Registered Nurse (RN) license with relevant clinical experience
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Knowledge of nursing standards and best practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
