Accountants play a vital role in the tourism industry by helping businesses track finances,

manage costs, and ensure profitability. They help businesses make informed decisions,

comply with tax regulations, and maintain financial stability.

Preparing profit and loss accounts and the balance sheet for senior management. Assisting in

preparing budgets and business planning, including projected room revenue. Reconciling

bank statements. Ensuring legislation is followed regarding VAT and PAYE.

Ensuring accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making.

Responsibilities of an accountant in the tourism industry:
Financial records: Accountants maintain accurate financial records, including balance

sheets and income statements.

Budgeting and financial planning: Accountants help businesses budget and plan

financially.

Tax compliance: Accountants ensure businesses comply with tax regulations.

Cash flow: Accountants manage cash flow.

Financial analysis: Accountants provide financial analysis to help businesses make

decisions.

Payroll: Accountants may manage payroll.

Financial audits: Accountants may conduct financial audits.

Financial reconciliation: Accountants may perform daily financial reconciliation

revenue and expenses should be recorded to balance the books.
