CNC Programmer

**Job Summary**:
Protekz seeks a CNC Programmer with expertise in milling operations, CAD, CAM software, and G-code programming. Proficiency in Autodesk PowerMill and familiarity with machining materials and quality assurance are essential. Applicants should possess a mechanical or tool & die engineering diploma and experience with VMCs, particularly Makino machines or Fanuc controller VMCs.

**Machining Knowledge**:

- Proficiency in understanding milling machine operations and processes, including different types of milling (e.g., 3-axis).
- Knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, and work holding methods.

**Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Skills**:

- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, ZWCAD, SolidWorks) to interpret and work with engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Ability to create or modify CAD models and drawings as needed.

**CAM Software Proficiency**:

- Mastery of CAM software tools Autodesk - POWERMILL to generate toolpaths and G-code programs for CNC milling machines.
- Skill in selecting appropriate toolpaths, cutting strategies, and machining parameters for efficient and accurate machining.

**Geometry and Trigonometry**:

- Strong understanding of geometry and trigonometry, as these are crucial for calculating toolpath coordinates and angles.

**Blueprint Reading**:

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.

**G-code Programming**:

- Proficiency in writing and editing G-code programs for CNC milling machines.
- Skill in troubleshooting and debugging G-code programs.

**Tool Selection and Management**:

- Knowledge of tool selection, tool life management, and tool change procedures.
- Understanding of tool geometry, feeds, and speeds.

**Material Knowledge**:

- Familiarity with various materials (e.g., metals, plastics) and their machining properties.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Attention to detail to ensure that machined parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Ability to use measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, and CMMs for quality inspection.

**Problem Solving**:

- Strong problem-solving skills to address machining challenges and optimize toolpaths for efficiency and quality.

- Proficiency in computer operations and the ability to work with CAM software and CNC machine controls.

**Qualification**:
**Knowledge and Experience**:

- Minimum Diploma in mechanical Engineering or preferably with Diploma in Tool & Die Engineering.
- Possess a thorough understanding of CNC programming principles.
- Clear knowledge of Autodesk power mill software.

**Tooling and Molding Background**:

- Have experience working in a tool room environment (preferred).
- Possess a general understanding of tool making and mold manufacturing processes.

**Specific Machine Experience**:

- Experience operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs).
- Prior experience with Makino machines or Fanuc controller VMCs is a strong plus.
